Grants to Massachusetts nonprofit organizations in eligible locations to address food insecurity in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. Applicants must submit an LOI prior to applying and are asked to contact staff prior to submitting an LOI. Funding is intended to respond to the critical needs of income-eligible individuals and families experiencing food insecurity as a result of the pandemic. Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to, food banks or pantries; food delivery and/or pickup programs; food suppliers and other food access programs; or other entities that serve the residents of Berkshire County.
The goal of the grant program is to help with capital expenses and projects aimed at expanding and/or improving the capacity of food provision programs to deliver services and address food security needs related to the impacts of the pandemic. Eligible projects include refrigerators, freezers, refrigerated trucks, forklifts, shelving, etc.
Activities must meet applicable CDBG-CV requirements, which include that grantees use the funding to support a public service by either:

Grants will range up to $200,000.
Funded activities must conclude by March 31, 2023.
