Scholarships of $2,500 to USA active military personnel and veterans studying in STEM degree programs for tuition and course-related expenses. Funding is intended to assist second- and third-year students pursuing full- or part-time studies towards an undergraduate degree.

War Veterans Scholarships:

The AFCEA Educational Foundation is dedicated to providing academic support to U.S. military personnel. Merit-based scholarships will be awarded to persons on active duty in the uniformed military services and to honorably discharged U.S. military veterans (including Reservists and National Guard personnel) who served in Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan and/ or Iraqi Freedom Combat Operations (2003-Present) who are currently enrolled and attending classes in an eligible STEM undergraduate degree program, part time or full time, at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States  

Candidates must be majoring in a C4I-related field or the following fields: Biometry/Biometrics, Computer Engineering, Computer Forensics Science, Computer Programming, Computer Science, Computer Systems, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Geospatial Science, Information Science, Information Technology, Information Resource Management, Intelligence, Mathematics, Network Engineering, Network Security, Operations Research, Physics, Robotics Engineering, Robotics Technology, Statistics, Strategic Intelligence, or Telecommunications Engineering.

Scholarship awards are subject to availability of funding. Scholarship awards are restricted to tuition and course-related expenses, such as fees, books, supplies and equipment that are required for the courses at the university.

Distance-learning or online programs affiliated with a major U.S. institution are eligible.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Scholarships will be awarded to:
- Persons on active duty in the uniformed military services
- Honorably discharged U.S. military veterans (including Reservists and National Guard personnel) who deployed abroad in support of one of the Overseas Contingency Operations (Operation Enduring Freedom; Operation Iraqi Freedom; Operation New Dawn; Operation Inherent Resolve; Operation Freedom's Sentinel).

Applicants must be
1. U.S. citizen currently enrolled and attending a four-year accredited college or university in the United States as a sophomore or junior at the time of application. You cannot apply the year you are graduating.
2. Enrolled part time or full time in an eligible undergraduate degree program.
3. An overall 3.0 GPA or higher is required.
4. Candidates must be majoring in one of the eligible C4I-related fields related to the mission of AFCEA. (For a list of eligible fields, see Description above.)
5. Served in Overseas Contigency Operations (from 2003 to present) - provide DD214 or Certificate of Service. Paperwork must verify deployment. Remove SSN.

Spring Pre-Requisite: Enduring Freedom Afghanistan and Iraq Freedom War Veterans (2003-Present) Scholarship (Undergraduate)

Veterans who meet the above criteria or who have been disabled because of active-duty combat wounds received from either serving in Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan and/or Iraqi Freedom Combat Operations (2003-Present) will be considered for this scholarship.

War Veteran Teacher Certification Program: Students actively pursuing a credential/licensure for the purpose of teaching STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) subjects at a U.S. elementary, middle/intermediate and high schools are eligible. Current credential and licensure students must have completed a bachelor’s of science degree. Expected graduation/completion date cannot be in the year the scholarship is awarded.

Freshmen and Senior level students are not eligible to apply.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications accepted January 1, 2021 - May 31, 2021. (Applications must be complete, including all supporting documentation, by May 31.)

Official transcripts reflecting all college-level study will also be required by the deadline date - electronic submission preferred. If your transcript does not show your classes in progress, please submit documents showing current classes. If electronic submission is not possible, please send official document to the AFCEA address by the deadline date.

Instructions for electronic submission of the recommendation letters will be provided to the endorsers automatically as part of the on-line application process - please do not mail separately. Letters of Recommendation are not accepted from applicants. If the endorser does not receive the email, letters can be emailed to the Foundation.

All award checks are written to the university or college to be deposited into student's account.
