Awards of $35,000 and in-kind support to Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire nonprofit organizations to recognize efforts to address community challenges related to inclusion and social equity. In addition to the cash award, organizations will receive volunteer and promotional support and publicity from Citizens Bank and its media partners.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Champions in Action will receive:

- $35,000 in unrestricted funds
- Local media support/coverage through Citizens Bank's media partners
- Volunteer support from Citizens Bank
- Promotional support including advertising in Citizens Bank branches and on the website

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be recognized as a Champion in Action, an organization must:

- Be a nonprofit organization based in Eastern or Western Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Rhode Island that addresses a specific social concern (social concerns are announced twice yearly in February and July)
- Provide proof of tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code Section 501c3
- Have a total operating budget of $5 million or less

Pre-Application Information:

Topics are announced each fall, and application submissions are accepted twice annually in February and July.

2021 topics include:
- COVID-19 Relief (H1) – winners announced in January 2021 from the July 2020 submission
- Social Equity & Inclusion (H2) – applications due February 26th 2021; winners announced in July 2021
