Grants to Massachusetts nonprofit organizations and government agencies in eligible locations for workforce development programs. Funding is intended to increase access to training programs, skills development activities, and education, and to prepare local residents for family-supporting jobs. Eligible applicants are located in the Foundation's 33-community region.

The goal of the program is to advance the economic wellness of residents through access to career skills development and education. Some examples include:

  • Scholarship programs of higher educational institutions
  • On-the-job training
  • Career advancement training
  • Early childhood education
  • Adult and child literacy.

Proposals for grants are expected to address each of the following principles:

  • Capacity for impact: Demonstrate capacity and potential for achieving and sustaining long-term impact.
  • Plan of action: Include a plan of action with evidence that the plan is likely to achieve its intended outcomes.
  • Collaboration: We encourage collaboration to leverage new and/or existing resources, organizations, relationships, initiatives, and investments to improve the likelihood of significant impact, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Tracking impact: Include measurable objectives and outcomes with a plan and tools to monitor progress.

While there are no set grant amounts, grants tend to fall between $2,000 and $15,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Nonprofit organizations and municipal governments within the Foundation's 33-community region that address the Foundation's goals and action areas may apply.

- Individuals
- For-profit organizations
- Loans or debt reduction
- Activities outside our region
- Political activity

Pre-proposal Conference:

Two information sessions will be held.
